Hmmm…Not a word about the truely caustic doctrines of the “progressive Left” that was (and still is) forcing its irrationalities into the public square and requires a strong arm to eject. I cannot imagine a non-miltant response that would be robust enough.
It’s a book review. There’s not a word about it because the book was focused on the right and the hypocrisy of the right. Is there a book that talks about doctrines of the left (many of which I don’t agree with)?
I wasn’t looking for it from you. It is suspicious if the author chose to focus only on one side of the debate mention of the other. Neutrality should be the goal regardless of how difficult that is to maintain.
I don't think that's possible. I think truth telling is the goal. And for someone who writes on a doctoral level she had to focus down on one topic. The author chose this topic as part of her research which spans 20+ years and is narrowly focused on the patriarchal aspect of evangelicalism and this is what she found. I would recommend that you read the book. Like I said in my review: Very eye opening.
If there is someone researching the left I'd be happy to read that book. Wait actually I have. Books like Carl Trueman's The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self and Strange New World do a thorough job. He doesn't critique the right. Only the left. Because that was his chosen scope.
I think there's enough in all Du Mez' book and in Trueman's books that implicate the right and the left.
